Compline was a performance developed especially for the Museumn8 2010 on November 5th in Amsterdam. The project took place in the Old Church in Amsterdam in the middle of the Red Light District and was called Between Heaven and Earth. 21 artist, musicians and dancers shared their take on the main theme.

The performance Compline was inspired by the graves in the floor of the church, the church choir and my fascination with the huge balloon parade I saw when I just moved to brussel.
The performance consists of several elements. One being a giant balloon cloud floating higher and higher towards the ceiling of the church. As I walked a mapped out route through the church, passing by certain graves, I would loosen a bit of rope and the cloud would mount its way upwards. All the time I would be followed at a small distance by the church choir. I made sure to stop at certain graves, and when I stood still, the choir would sing a verse of their hymn. They would come closer as my tour ended and eventually stand around me finishing their song.

Between Heaven and Earth has won the prize for Best Program of the Museum night 2010.
