'MIST'

A solo show consisting of an installation with slides, a video projection and text at Teto Projects in Amsterdam, from the 11th of december 2009 till January 16th 2010.

This very site-specific installation is a research into the limits and possibilities of slides. Using its raw physicality by scratching on the black slides and making holes and putting them back into the slideprojector, it leaves the impression there is an opening in the wall. The space and owner/inhabitant of TeTo Projects, Hercules Goulart Martins, both play a big part in the work.
The text below is used as audio in the installation, as a whisper through headphones. The text is made up of fragments of intimate memories of Hercules' childhood he shared with me when we first met up to discuss my plans.
The work is, in its presence, quite volatile and ephemeral. And the whispered stories about the disappearing swamps of Brazil in combination with a world that seems to be hidden 'behind' the walls -but visible through the cracks- and the video depicting a wavy organic shape, create an atmosphere of disappearing. Hereby emphasizing on what is absent, but what could be there at the same time.
